Ernst Grouws Pinot Noir
Winemaker’s Notes:
The translucent ruby colour of this wine is typical of the variety. Subtle aromas of fresh raspberries, cherries and tilled earth combine with a hint of baking spice. The palate is elegant, with a delicate and silky tannin structure. The wine is beautifully balanced with lingering flavours of tobacco and wild mushrooms on the finish.
With multiple layers of flavour – red cherries, strawberries, and dark chocolate – this
wine is enlivened and given character by the use of gentle oak adding spicy cloves,
cinnamon, and vanilla into the mix.
Chef’s Notes:
Serve at ±15 degrees Celsius.
The delicate nature of this wine is a perfect match for smoked trout or salmon. Also pairs well with charcuterie, ham and other cold meats served with patés and terrines.
High quality wines made from selected vineyards in the Western Cape. Our signature range of wines embodies our passion for wine making.
Ernst Gouws, the esteemed winemaker and head of the Gouws family, follows the French philosophy that emphasizes the vital connection between the vineyards’ location and the wine’s excellence. To ensure exceptional quality, grapes are carefully hand-harvested from vineyards specifically chosen around Stellenbosch, a region recognized worldwide for its exceptional fruit-driven wines. At Ernst Gouws & Co, we deeply appreciate the dedication of our grape-growing partners, whose unwavering commitment to producing outstanding fruit plays a crucial role in creating wines that exceed expectations and proudly bear the seal of approval.
Stellenbosch’s terroir is perfectly suited to growing all the noble grape cultivars used in the production of our wines, as well as the proudly South African varietal Pinotage, which was developed in the region almost a century ago.
