The Malbec grapes used in this wine are grown in the Swartland’s granite rich alluvial soils, resulting in low yields and small concentrated berries. The winemaker uses a unique technique of 30% whole bunch and 70% whole berry fermentation, which adds complexity and tannin structure to the wine. The wine is naturally fermented in stainless steel tanks, with pump-overs done once daily during fermentation to extract maximum flavour and colour. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is pressed and returned to tank for Malolactic fermentation, with 15% of the wine undergoing Malo in older 300 litre barrels.
On the nose, this wine is warm and inviting, with ripe redcurrant and raspberry fruit and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is juicy and approachable, with a core of gentle red berry fruit nicely balanced by fresh acidity and a rounded, supple finish.
