The Story of False Bay Wines
False Bay Vineyards is more than just a wine producer; it’s a story of passion, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of quality. Founded by Paul Boutinot in 1994, False Bay Vineyards was born out of a desire to rescue grapes from old, balanced, and under-appreciated vineyards that were destined to be lost in the large co-operative blends dominating South Africa’s wine industry at the time.
Boutinot, a pioneer in his field, transformed these Cape gems into wines with minimal intervention, using wild yeast ferments and no acid additions. This approach was quite revolutionary at the time, swimming against the tide of conventional winemaking. Today, this ethos continues under the watchful eye of Waterkloof’s Cellar Master, Nadia Barnard, who ensures that every bottle of False Bay wine is a true expression of its terroir.

Our False Bay range includes a variety of wines, each with its unique character and flavour profile.
